1. Go to the Univ. of Mass Lowell Ionweb: https://giro.uml.edu/ionoweb/#
2. Select EG931 (Eglin AFB) from the list
3. Click on the current YEAR
4. Click on the current MONTH
5. Click on the current DAY
6. On the slider to the left, go to the bottom for the latest Ionospheric Measurement.
Pay attention to accessing the latest data as instructed above.
The page will show the F1 and F2 layers of the ionosphere and the Maximum Usable Frequency ("MUF") for that measurement at that particular time.
The Scale at the bottom is the calculated distance in kilometers for the atmospheric bounce at a given distance. For example in the page image below, at 9.7MHz at 1222 Universal Time, the maximum distance is 600 miles.
When you use it enough, you can reliably estimate your ability to reach another station.
